Falk College seeks a part-time instructor to teach MFT 686 M700 Play Therapy with Children and Families (3 credits) in the Fall 2024 (08/19/2024-12/10/2024) semester. Course Description: Examines the assessment and psychotherapeutic treatment of children and families through play therapy. Working with children and families in crisis including loss, abuse, and illness, is a particular focus. This course provides an overview of the fundamentals and skills of play therapy with children, families, and relational systems. Building on a foundation of child-centered play therapy, this course will discuss the essential conceptual framework regarding basic play therapy practice and in planning successful interventions with children and their families. The course will also consider relevant ethical issues and research outcomes related to play therapy practice and give students the basic tools to begin applying such techniques to clinical work with children and the relational systems of which they are a part, with a particular emphasis on trauma and its impact on children and systems. Class meets Thursdays, 5:30-7:30 PM EST, with async content management.
