ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. (Other duties may be assigned.):
Upon assignment, sign and review the Substitute Handbook, acquainting oneself with the specific site details and children in attendance. Adhere to any written guidelines or instructions left by the regular staff or management. Implement lesson plans and engage in daily programming under the guidance of the teacher, assistant teacher, or other site staff. Collaborate on all program activities and assist with curriculum planning. Evaluate child performance in partnership with the teaching staff. Aid in executing the center's daily routines. Supervise children and oversee center activities, working alongside the regular teaching and site staff. Strictly maintain confidentiality in line with agency policies and standards. Prepare and maintain the cleanliness and organization of the center. Provide individual or small-group support to reinforce developmentally appropriate learning concepts. Attend all mandatory training sessions. Ensure strict compliance with all Head Start Performance Standards, New York State Daycare Licensing Regulations, health and safety regulations, and organizational policies and procedures. Performs all duties in a manner consistent with the mission and goals of the Joint Council for Economic Opportunity, Inc. Performs all other related duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS
Prior experience in early childhood education is a plus. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. A commitment to upholding the highest standards of education and care for our students. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
A substitute for the Teacher- Must have attained a AAS or BS/BA in Early Childhood Education or a related field with 24 credit hours of course work equivalent to a major relating to Early Childhood Education, with experience teaching pre-school age children.
A substitute for the assistant teacher or acting as the temporary classroom aide must have attained high school diploma or general education degree (GED).
