Joint Council For Economic Opportunity Center Support Teacher in Plattsburgh, New York

Pay:$18 an hr ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES As directed by the Education Services Manager, carries out goals, policies and activities in the Head Start Program Performance Standards. Complies with all Health and Safety Regulations. Under the supervision of the Education Services Manager, carries out daily programming and completes all activities as appropriate to daily placement. Assists with curriculum planning, evaluation, and assists in the implementation of the centers routine as appropriate to placement site. Observes confidentiality according to agency policy and performance standards. Identifies and reports suspected child abuse as per Head Start procedure. Assists the Nutrition Service area, in training parents about the appropriate use and preparation of food and its nutritional value. When assigned, assists center staff in parent contact information. Communicates to families, in regard to scheduled events, or updating needed information. Assists centers with In Kind collecting procedures and organizing visitor sign in sheets. Maintains and updates the Substitute Handbooks for all centers. As directed by Education Services Manager, files, types, copies and collates on a needed basis. Performs all duties, in a manner consistent with the mission and goals of the Joint Council for Economic Opportunity, Inc. If placed long term, will follow appropriate job description for placement. Performs all other duties as assigned. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES In the event the Lead Teacher is absent, the Center Support Teacher will supervise classroom education staff and will be responsible for the day-to-day routine operation of the center as approved by the Education Services Manager. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include assisting with training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
