Joint Council For Economic Opportunity Assistant Teacher in Plattsburgh, New York
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
Discusses daily center routine with the Teacher to implement program activities consistent with Program Performance Standards as assigned by the teacher. Assists the Teacher with curriculum plan and evaluation. Prepares and cleans up classroom materials as directed by the Teacher. Supervises the centers activities in cooperation with the Teacher. Assists students, individually or in groups, to reinforce developmentally appropriate learning concepts as approved by the Teacher. Accompanies Teacher on home visits when necessary. Keeps accurate and confidential records, as required. Assists the Teacher with CAPTAIN input regarding child and family contacts, referrals, goal progress, and etc. at least weekly. Assists the Teacher in ensuring appropriate documentation for Non-Federal Share for all volunteers and donations to the Classroom. Attends all meetings, as assigned by the Teacher. In the event the teacher is absent, the Assistant Teacher assumes the role of Teacher. Maintains sound developmentally appropriate practices with all children in the Center. Attends all required training. Insure compliance with all health and safety regulations. Performs all duties in a manner consistent with the mission and goals of the Joint Council for Economic Opportunity, Inc. Performs all other related duties as assigned. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE A Child Development Associate credential, or be willing to be enrolled in a CDA credential program that will be completed within 2 years, or have an Associates or Baccalaureate Degree (in any area) or be in a program leading to such a degree, and one year of experience working with preschool children.
