JOB DESCRIPTION

Associate Teachers (Nursery through 4th grade)
Start Date: August 26, 2024 5 Days / Week Salary: 40K-43K plus Associate Teachers are eligible to take up to four free Graduate School courses for the school year (September 1st- August 31) and are also eligible for medical and dental coverage.
QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be enrolled as a graduate student at Bank Street College for the 2024-2025 school year
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience teaching children 3-10-year-olds preferred

  • FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    The Associate Teacher will:
    • Support the curriculum plans of the cooperating teacher and age-level and gradually assume increased responsibilities, including opportunities to initiate and implement parts of the curriculum.
    • Help build a collaborative, cooperative, and reflective approach to working as a classroom teaching team and as an age-level teaching team.
    • Participate in the use of observing and recording methods, assessment practices, and management supports as related to individual children, small groups, and the whole class.
    • Gain skills and understanding of progressive education approaches supporting the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth and development of particular age groups.
    • Develop skills and confidence in working with families, including aspects of home-school communication through emails, conferences, and report writing.
    • Attend and participate in weekly age-level planning meetings, support meetings, and faculty meetings after school.
    • Help design, organize, and maintain a materials-based classroom that reflects the curriculum and current work of the children. This includes daily classroom morning set-up and evening clean-up.

    Minimum Salary: 15 Maximum Salary: 16 Salary Unit: Hourly
