Coddington Road Community Center Substitute - Early Childhood in Ithaca, New York

Position Title:SubstituteWork Hours: Max 40 hours per week, non-exempt, hours vary with positionReports To: Early Childhood Programs ManagerPosition OverviewThe Substitute will be responsible for assisting with supervision of children, including implementation of lesson plans and activities that meet children’s needs, encourage enjoyment, and interest in learning, and facilitate the development of self-regulation, social skills, and self-esteem either as a 1:1 aide, 3rd Teacher or substitute for regular teaching staff. Responsibilities, include but are not limited to:Program Management•Promote positive self-regulation in children and motivate children toward a positive attitude for learning;•Follow daily routines to help children keep themselves and others, healthy and safe such as hand washing, toileting, brushing teeth, and appropriate classroom management techniques.•As assigned, provide individualized support for a child or group of children.•Continuously monitor groups of children as assigned, including headcounts, manual and/or electronic attendance and meal time supervision.Compliance, Trainings and Certifications•Comply with and use of the New York State Office of Children and Family Services Child Care Regulations and CRCC Policies and Procedures consistently;•Attend and participate in staff meetings and/or service training sessions as scheduled;•Commitment to ongoing staff development in keeping with NYS OCFS Licensing Requirements; keep abreast of current theory, research and practices in the Early Childhood Education Field and the Creative Curriculum. Working Relationships•Directly report to admin team, or designated staff member as requested•Work collaboratively with other staff members •Maintain positive work environment by being professional, courteous and confidentialWorking ConditionsMust be physically able to perform the job of teacher of young children including running short distances and lifting up to 50 pounds. Must have a warm, supportive attitude toward children. Must be reliable. Must be flexible with scheduling, receiving assignments, and adapting to changes in the program. Must be willing to accept directions to improve work performance and maintain best practices within the classroom. Must maintain a positive presence as a role model for staff/families/children. Minimum Qualifications•High School Diploma/GED. CDA or Associates in Early Childhood preferred•1 year FTE experience working with young children•Ability to complete reports as assigned, willingness to adopt center systems for recordkeeping

Minimum Salary: 16.78 Maximum Salary: 18.53 Salary Unit: Hourly
