The following position will be avcaulable for the 2025-2026 school year:

Middle School Assistant Principal

Qualifications:

  • NYS Administrator's Certificate

  • Five (5) years of successful teaching in addition to administrative experience preferred

Salary: $85,000 - $110,000

Responsible to:Middle School Principal

Qualifications:

  • Hold valid New York State School Administrative Certification.

  • Minimum of 5 years teaching experience; prior administrative experience preferred.

  • Experience and knowledge working with students with special needs. Familiar with stateregulations regarding students classified by the district CSE.

  • Well versed in NYS Standards and Assessments as they impact the Middle School program.

  • Advocate and sustain a school culture and instructional program conducive to student learning and staff professional growth.

  • Communicates clearly and effectively with students, parents, staff, administration, and community members.

  • Possess high level communication and interpersonal skills to interact positively and articulately with parents and other members of the community.

  • Assist in the interpretation and administration of school policy, regulations, and negotiated contracts.

  • Assist in yearly teacher evaluation and provide guidance to and manage staff.

  • Possess expertise in assessment of student achievement, program, and instructional practices.

  • Have knowledge of secondary level curriculum and an ability to implement procedures for curriculum review, revision, and development.

  • Possess excellent organizational and planning skills.

Demonstrated Ability to:

  • Communicate clearly and effectively to a variety of audiences.

  • Work collaboratively with teachers and administrators across grade levels and content areas in preparing and administering the curriculum and instructional programming.

  • Understand and support the middle level learner.

Responsibilities:

  • Works with the Principal and staff in the evaluation and development of curriculum.

  • Makes classroom visitations to observe and assess both the curriculum and the instructional strategies utilized by staff members.

  • Assists to assign teachers within area of maximum capabilities and to achieve best possible educational environment for children.

  • Celebrates the accomplishments of their students and colleagues and provides encouragement and support for attempts at improvement.

  • Assists in implementing instructional strategies, including supporting the needs of diverse learners, delivery methods, assessment, and staff development techniques for improvement of instruction.

  • Assists in analysis of the effectiveness of curriculum and where indicted, recommends changes of in-service curricular activities.

  • Supervises and evaluates professional and support staff assigned to the building.

  • Assists the Principal in the development of an overall discipline policy, in the enforcement of these policies and in the orientation of staff and students to these policies.

  • Supervises the scheduling and grade reporting processes and school attendance procedure.

  • Coordinates the efforts of the Guidance Counselors and the Pupil Personnel team to develop and carry out preventative and remedial plans for students.

  • Enforces all provisions within the student Code of Conduct. Investigates all violations and involves all stakeholders in the process.

  • Attending and supervising school sponsored programs during after-school and evening hours.

  • Supervises staff members in carrying out responsibilities in the non- instructional areas, such as bus duty, study hall supervision, cafeteria supervision, fire and bus safety drills.

  • Assists the principal in planning and organizing for the opening and closing of the school year and the development of the master schedule.

  • Completes DASA investigations and reports of identified incidents.

  • Fosters a positive school culture and creates various student experiences such as field trips and assemblies.

  • Assumes all responsibilities of the Principal in the Principal's absence.

  • Assumes responsibility for other tasks as assigned by the Principal.
